As the temperatures drop and the gates of Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark close for the season, the excitement doesn’t stop for us behind the scenes. While guests eagerly anticipate the summer reopening, a dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure the park is in top shape for another year of thrills, laughter, and unforgettable memories. From rigorous ride inspections to exciting new improvements, here’s a look at what happens at Quassy during the off-season at one of the top theme parks in CT.
Ride Maintenance & Safety Inspections
One of the most crucial aspects of Quassy’s off-season work is ride maintenance. Every ride, from the Wooden Warrior roller coaster to the family-friendly Grand Carousel, undergoes a thorough inspection. The maintenance team dismantles key ride components, checks for wear and tear, and replaces any necessary parts to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.
“Our goal is to provide a fun and safe experience for all guests,” says Eric Anderson, President at Quassy Amusement Park. “That means going beyond the routine checks we do during the season and fully inspecting every ride from top to bottom.”
Safety remains a top priority, so inspectors test ride mechanics, braking systems, and track alignments. Waterpark attractions also receive special attention, with water slides being cleaned and tested to ensure they are ready for a summer of splashes.
Park Enhancements & New Attractions
The off-season is the perfect time for upgrades and new additions. Quassy often uses this period to enhance guest experiences by introducing new rides, upgrading facilities, and refreshing popular attractions. As one of the most beloved amusement parks in Connecticut, Quassy is constantly evolving to bring exciting experiences to guests. This year, visitors can look forward to two thrilling new attractions for the 2025 season.
What attractions are you riding first?
New Attractions You’ll Love
The first new ride coming to Quassy is our brand-new spinning family coaster! This coaster will boast a figure-eight track design with spinning carts, allowing families to share in the excitement as they zip around the winding course, circling around and back again and again for maximum fun.
In addition to the new family coaster, as part of the park’s continuous efforts to enhance the guest experience, Quassy will be retiring the Yo-Yo swing ride and replacing it with a stunning new attraction: the Aladdin Wave Swinger, a custom-built swing ride by Wooddesign Amusement Rides.
Wooddesign Amusement Rides is renowned for its nostalgic, custom-crafted carousels and swing rides, each tailored to reflect the essence of the parks they inhabit. For generations, they’ve produced skillfully carved wood designs, including animals and panels, evoking a timeless charm. The Aladdin Wave Swinger will feature intricate, hand-carved wooden panels inspired by the beloved Aladdin film, combining exquisite craftsmanship with a sense of wonder.
“It’s one thing to be able to introduce a new ride, but having the opportunity to showcase two new rides in one season is rare,” explains Eric Anderson, President of Quassy. “These new rides are wonderful additions to our beautiful amusement park.”
Staff Training & Preparation
While the rides are being fine-tuned, Quassy’s staff is also preparing for the upcoming season. Hiring begins early, with training programs designed to ensure employees are well-equipped to provide exceptional customer service. From ride operators to lifeguards, every team member undergoes hands-on training to prioritize guest safety and park efficiency.
Returning employees also participate in refresher courses, learning about updates to park policies and new operational procedures. This behind-the-scenes work ensures that when opening day arrives, the Quassy team is ready to deliver a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

Groundskeeping & Landscaping
After the cold and snowy winter has passed, we get to work on grounds. A vibrant and welcoming environment is a key part of the Quassy experience. During the off-season, the groundskeeping team works on beautifying the park, planting flowers, trimming trees, and maintaining picnic areas. Pathways are repaved, signage is refreshed, and the entire theme park in CT gets a facelift to look its best for the grand reopening.
Counting Down to Opening Day
While it may seem quiet at Quassy in the winter months, a lot is happening behind the scenes to ensure a fantastic season ahead. From theme park maintenance and ride inspections to exciting new additions and staff training, every detail is carefully managed to create another year of fun for families and thrill-seekers alike.
As one of the premier theme parks in CT, Quassy is dedicated to keeping the excitement alive year after year.
