The wait is almost over—Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark is reopening for its 117th season, and this year’s lineup of events and attractions makes it one of the most exciting season openers yet!
Whether you’re a long-time fan or planning your first visit, Opening Weekend on April 26–27 brings the perfect blend of timeless tradition, thrilling updates, and community spirit.
Here’s what’s happening at Quassy as we kick off the 2025 season.
A Season That Starts with Giving Back
Opening weekend at Quassy ALWAYS launches with the return of the park’s cherished “Quassy Cares Neighbors in Need” event. This decades-long tradition invites guests to support their community while enjoying major savings. Visitors who bring a non-perishable food item or home cleaning product will receive an all-day ride wristband for just $18. One donated item per guest is required to receive the discounted price.
Donations will benefit local food banks and Acts 4 Ministry, a nonprofit that serves individuals and families in financial crisis. Can’t make it the first weekend? No worries—this initiative continues May 3–4, so there are two weekends to get in on the fun while giving back.
Free Admission for Teachers
Summertime is right around the corner, which means, schools are almost out! As part of opening festivities, Quassy is also hosting Teacher Appreciation Weekend on May 3–4. Teachers with a valid school ID will receive free admission to the park, a small way to thank educators for the enormous role they play in shaping young minds.
The Egg Hunt Returns (Yes, After Easter!)
Don’t forget your east baskets! Though Easter may be behind us by the time we open our doors, Quassy’s annual Easter Egg Hunt is still on the calendar—and it’s a can’t-miss! Taking place on Sunday, April 27 at 3 p.m., the egg hunt is open to children ages 13 and under. Kids will search for candy-filled eggs and special surprises.
Participants will be split by age group:
- Ages 3–5
- Ages 6–13
Please note that no adults are allowed in the egg hunt area.
This sweet springtime tradition adds another layer of excitement to opening weekend and continues a long-running part of the Quassy experience.
New Rides, New Thrills
For 2025, Quassy is adding even more reasons to visit. Two brand-new attractions will be making their debut this season:
- The Alladin Swing Ride, a high-flying experience for thrill-seekers of all ages
- The Crazy 8 Family Roller Coaster, with and official grand opening on June 14.
These rides join a lineup of more than two dozen attractions across the park, including the award-winning Wooden Warrior coaster and the classic Grand Carousel.
A Fan Favorite Returns
After being missing for more than 40 years, a beloved piece of Quassy Amusement Park’s history is making a triumphant return.
The hippocampus—a mythical sea creature with the upper body of a horse and the tail of a fish—was once part of Quassy’s original carousel, which operated until the 1980s. That historic ride, filled with hand-carved wooden animals, was auctioned off when the park introduced a newer model.
Dating back to the early 1900s, the original carousel was a beautiful example of American craftsmanship. Now, in 2025, the hippocampus is back and will be proudly displayed at the park—serving as a nostalgic nod to the past and a celebration of Quassy’s 117-year legacy.
Its return is more than a fun flashback— it’s a staple of Connecticut family entertainment, and a tribute to our commitment to preserving our heritage while continuing to evolve.
Waterpark Opening and Summer Job Opportunities
Warm weather also means it’s time to get ready for lake days, water slides and splash zones! Quassy’s Waterpark officially opens May 23 on select dates and moves to daily operations as summer rolls in. The waterpark features 16 slides, a toddler splash pad, and the popular Saturation Station—ideal for cooling off and soaking up the fun.
Looking for a summer job that comes with perks like sunshine and smiles? Quassy is hiring! Seasonal positions in ride operations, food service, waterpark staff, and more are now open. It’s the perfect way for students and teens to earn extra money while gaining valuable work experience. We’re accepting applications ONSITE Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Make This Spring Count at Quassy
With a mix of new attractions, classic events, community spirit, and warm-weather fun, Quassy Amusement Park & Waterpark is the place to be this spring. Park hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends through May 18, and the summer season officially kicks off later in May.
